Fact based drama about a Soviet clerk who defects to Canada, causing a major diplomatic scandal. The movie is very much focused on reminding audiences that this was based off a true story. Even throwing in a redundant narrator that blunts the dramatic impact for a lot of scenes. It wants to be suspenseful but it comes across as silly. Some of the acting is good. Dana Andrews is alright and Barry Kroeger leaves an impression as a slimy communist agent.
