While not the low-budget gem "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was (and still is), Wes Craven's cult favorite holds up.

Wes Craven I love your movies but The Hill Have Eyes as always been my least favorite from yours. Not my cup of tea.

More exploitative crap from Wes Craven. At one point one of the characters rips up a poster of Jaws, apparently Craven's way of saying "That was not horror. THIS is horror." But it isn't. There is no tension or suspense to speak of. It's just a sequence of deeply unpleasant and tasteless sensationalism with no wit or intelligence behind it whatsoever, which probably spawned the entire "torture porn" genre. Which is reason enough to hate it in itself.
