A glimpse of the visual genius that Jeunet would perfect with Amelie and A Very Long Engagement. The film creates an intriguing world of grotesque characters, fantastic set pieces, and a stirring score. Some great dark comedy, as well. |

Despite its legendary love scene, I was expecting something much better. I love cannibal movies more than the average person, still I wasn't so impressed. See this only if you are intereseted in the director. Otherwise I'd recommend something like City of Lost Children more than this. |

A black comedy about that isn't so much one single story as a bunch of vignettes mashed together. The characters make the movie - from the eccentric tenants to the underground trogs. Original and entertaining. |

Delicatessen review |

A fun dark comedy with a futuristic premise. the clown (Pinon) and Julie (Dougnac) become friends but is hindered by the jaded Clapet (Jean-Claude Dreyfus). "Life is wonderful." then the BS detector activates. Just of many subtle but laughable scenes from a unique futuristic film. Boasts of a witty screenplay and a spectacular set. Memorable lines: There's a tough world and I didn't make it." - Butcher. "Nobody is entirely evil: it's that circumstances that make them evil, or they don't know they are doing evil." - Louison. Highlights would be the music emanating from various sources, dream sequence and it's finale. Though it has loads of questionable sequences such as the hatred of Clapet when he thinks Loiuson was a nice person, lack of history of the Troglodistes and the Austra... |
