A lengthy political thriller starring some top notch actors as dueling politicians battling it out over a controversial appointment (Henry Fonda). And whether or not he is a communist sympathizer. Subplots and shadowy maneuvering comprise the movie. Some work more than others. One bold inclusion is a congressman being blackmailed for his covert homosexuality. In 1962.
