Meh - unless this grows on me, like Anchorman, this is a pretty boring comedy. Aside from a few good scenes - bear wrestling, impromptu Russian Roulette, the main bulk of the film was weak. |

If you like a good laugh and love Will Ferrell, you'll like this movie. Not a great movie, but a few really funny scenes. The last game at the end of the movie I liked the most, mainly because it wasn't in any previews. |

Rent at Own Risk |

This movie was not good but not good in a good way. There are plenty of parts that will make you laugh and plenty of quotable lines. The problem is that in the end it lacked any real story, plot or character development. I know those aren't the reasons you rent this movie but you would like to think they could have gotten one of them. Over all I would say rent this one because it will defiantly suck edited for TV! |

Really not that funny |
|
This was not a good movie. It did have it's funny parts (though they were few and far between). The only reason this movie was semi interesting was because of Will Ferrell. Overall I would say that Will Ferrell 'dropped the ball' on this role choice. |

What a Waste of Will |

I was so excited to watch the new Will Ferrell movie, Semi-Pro but was just disappointed. This movie has a weak plot, poor jokes with excessive swearing and violence.
Will Ferrell does his best to inject humor into the script but his efforts are lost due to poor direction by Kent Alterman. His facial expressions, used so well in other movies such as Elf and Blades of Glory, hold the key to his humor but the audience never really get to see them close up as the camera sweeps out to show the cheap looking set and other actors.
The real opportunities for laughter come from the setting of the film in the 1970s. There are brief lines poking fun at the era such as the explanation of fondue and the huge hair styles sported by members of the cast. These however are not used to their ful... |

Not great, but not bad |
|
Nothing much going on here, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's enjoyable enough, it's pretty short, and the actors look like they're having a good time. There's a thin plot about an ABA team trying to get into the NBA. Lots of sight gags, one liners, and weird characters to make it a good, one-time-is-enough watch. |
