Plot Outline:

Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel's surrealist silent and plotless short-film is meant to inspire thought and evoke emotion through the juxtaposition of images. Using logic that could only be explained in dreams, Un chien andalou will shock, disturb, and ultimately confuse anyone who dare's to try and fully understand it.

I was entranced, but mostly because there's no telling what will appear on the screen next in this surreal film from Bunuel and artist Salvador Dali. I'm a fan of both Bunuel and Dali and they craft some interesting imagery here, but it's really an exercise in stringing some surreal moments together with no semblance of plot or theme.

Typical Avant Garde with some interesting spots. The best part of the movie is knowing that it's only 20 minutes long.

Marvelous beyond everything, this short is an example of what's Bu˝uel available to do. The surrealistic images cracks me up with the social, political and religious meaning. The master (so far to me, haven't seen that much) of surrealism and symbolic cinema.

Not really a movie... but fascinating nonetheless

A movie so bizarre they couldn't let it go on for more that 16 minutes, Un chien andalou is truly one of a kind. Surrealist Salvador Dali and Director Luis Bunuel have created this film which captures the true nature of a dream in all its form. Logic is ultimately pointless, plot is nonexistent, actions are unexplainable, and meaning is barely comprehend able. While it's won't be a life changing film for anyone because of its strange and sometimes disturbing nature, Un chien andalou must be appreciated for its inspired show in experimental film making. It also must be understood that the true purpose of the film is nothing more than to evoke thought and emotion in the mind of the viewer. Don't expect to enjoy, expect to ponder.

(be warned: some disturbing content)
