A far cry from the first. Sure, it has a great helping of the good 'ol torturous violence, but there isn't anything in the movie to support it. Everything else is thrown out the window in favor of the violence. It's a very quick trip down a rabbit hole full of pain and torture that I don't particularly want to visit again.

The first (remake not original) had a somewhat good plot and story, this one is all about violence. There might be a commentary about the military somewhere here, but it's drowned out by gratuitous death and torture.

Call me a sadistic bastard but I ended up really liking the first movie of this newly revived franchise. But like most horror movie sequels, this one failed to live up to its predecessor. It was basically about stupid people doing stupid things and ended up paying for their lives. Don't get me wrong--the "gross factor" is equal to or probably greater than the first, but story-wise, it's pretty much empty. It was boring at times and I entertained myself by trying to recollect which films or television shows I've seen the actors before. By the final act, I didn't care for the characters because I got too tired of watching them run around and scream.
