Hugely enjoyable rip-roaring swashbuckler from the old school. No post-modernism, no deconstructions, just goodie vs. baddie in a classic medieval romp.

This is really good-certainly one of the best movies of the 1930s. Errol Flyn brings suave energy and the stunts are so lively you'd think Yakima Canutt was involved. And people need to know the vibrant color here beats Wizard of Oz by a year. I want to build nostalgia for THIS Robin Hood with my boys! Final note: pink bucket head

The color, life, and energy in this film is infectious. It isn't the most gritty or realistic adventure film, but it is certainly one of the more spirited.

This is a stunningly breathtaking film. The color is fantastic, especcially for 1938. the year before The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind. One of the best adventure movies ever.

Classic Escapism

Robin Hood has been immortalized on screen so many times that itís kind of ridiculous, the first Robin Hood movie was released in 1912 and the latest in 2010! Hood has been played by everyone from Carrey Elwes to Kevin Costner. He is one of the most iconic and loved characters, not only in cinema, but in every art-form.

So why all of the hullabaloo over the 1938 version? Why can I find this movie on blu-ray at Wal-Mart were not even the 2010 version was represented? Why does everyone remember this flick when most, if not all, other Hoods have been forgotten?

What really makes this one special is the sense of fun the whole movie brings to it. Everybody is really enjoying their roles, itís nearly impossible not enjoy the whole thing along with them. The whole thing is bright and...
