I could recall that this action comedy lacked punch in both areas. It was unfortunate that the talented cast had to endure such dreadful direction and screenplay. A lot of moments when you just cringe instead of laugh. This is the result of a poor version of Cowboys & Aliens. The premise of it was ludicrous and the machines just not pleasing to the eye. Wild Wild West doesn't deliver in almost all aspects of an entertaining film.

I'm not sure whether to blame the source material or this 1999 adaptation, but the blend of cartoony sci-fi and Wild West action is both silly and unbelievable. The comedy is more slapsticky than clever and borders on annoying.
