Lots of big budget setpieces and action sequences that are impressive, but Costner can't act to save his life and that just underlines the inherent silliness of the Waterworld universe. Dennis Hopper seems to get that the movie is campy, hamming it up in the lead villain role, but everyone else plays this dull action film fairly seriously. |

Known more for its incredible budget and under-performance, Waterworld isn't the complete turkey people make it out to be. It's not spectacular, but at least it's original and interesting. It could have benefited from a 30-minute cut. |
