In this unique thriller, Sydney Pollack builds effective tension around a smart cat-and-mouse game involving layers of intrigue and deception. Redford is surefooted as the hero,but Max von Sydow is more memorable as a laconic, but imposing contract killer. My only complaint is that Redford's character is made out to be a bookish accountant-like character, but quickly becomes a slick action movie star, which skirts believability. |
