Plot Outline:

In Victorian England, a simple farmer is told his family may be descended from the illustrious d'Urberville - and sends his daughter to another family named d'Uberville living nearby to confirm these claims. Tess arrives at the manor of Alec d'Urberville - whose title and coat of arms he has shamelessly bought. But though wooed and seduced, her true love may lie with another, Angel Claire. -- Chris Kavan

Tess (1979) PG A young woman (Nastassja Kinski) in Victorian England becomes the pawn of two men in her life. Kinski gives the performance of a lifetime as Tess, a woman who is preyed upon by men, and there is nothing that she can do about it. It’s a sad, heartbreaking film but one worth watching due to Kinski’s incredible performance. My Rating: Full Price - See more at:

Saw this recently and really liked it. Describes the ups and downs of one girl's life. Don't let the length put you off. This one by Roman Polanski is good. I would even dare call it a masterpiece. Nastassja Kinski at her best. The ending is completely mad and unbelievably good.
