Two rockers meet up in Venice Beach and take on an epic quest to claim the Pick of Destiny and become the greatest rock band the world has ever seen. This movie has the coolest songs that I ever heard and the funniest final battle in film history.

An annoying film that really only would play well to core fans of Tenacious D. Some of the rock references and cameos are fun, but the whole film is too self indulgent.

While there are some mildly amusing bits of dialogue and gags, the songs are where the bulk of the comedy is at. The rock tunes are what make the movie funny and they are so well written and played that it'd be impossible not to sing one or two after you watch the movie.

"Tenacious D in: The Pick Of Destiny" by Yojimbo

Two metal obsessed losers move to Hollywood and plan find fame and fortune by stealing a guitar pick fashioned from one of Satan's teeth. Tenacious D in: The Pick Of Destiny is Jack Black doing Jack Black. Again. If you've seen School Of Rock, High Fidelity or hell, anything else he's ever been in you know what you're going to get. And I for one think his one note routine is getting a little old. The Pick Of Destiny does have its moments but it's never more than mildly amusing and this metal inspired stoner material has already been covered by Spinal Tap, both Bill And Ted's movies, Wayne's World and even The Blues Brothers. And they all did it better. Those who never before realised that the word "rock" rhymes with "cock" may find it hilarious but anyone over the age of 15 will be left l...

For nobody except Tenacious D fans

"JB" (Jack Black) runs away from home after being spanked by his father (Meat Loaf). Years later, he finally makes it to Hollywood and comes across the greatest guitar player he has ever heard, "KG" (Kyle Glass).

After a little squabble, the two decide join forces and perform at an Open Mic Night at what appears to be a less than popular bar. To their shock, they don't do that good.

Back at their less than spectacular apartment, the two are trying to figure out what the legends of rock have that they don't while looking at some old magazines. It's only then that they realize that the guitarists on the covers have the same guitar pick.

While trying to look for a similar pick, an employee of the music shop (Ben Stiller, who is also the film's Executive Producer) tells him the an...
