United States Navy SEAL team rescue mission in the West African country of Nigeria. Lt. A.K. Waters (Bruce Willis) lead a team sent to rescue U.S. citizen Dr. Lena Fiore Kendricks (Monica Bellucci) from the civil war from jungle hospital. Kendricks refuses to leave without the patients. The soundtrack, editing and screenplay were insufficient to keep the whole movie together. Lack of character development was likewise evident. The cinematography and acting were brilliant. Tears of the Sun is an effective war film that shows human compassion despite strict orders.

"Tears Of The Sun" by Yojimbo

An American military unit is dispatched to extract a doctor and US national from a civil war torn region of Africa and is pursued relentlessly to the border by rebel forces. It's the turn of Nigeria to get rescued by Team America: World Police as stone faced Bruce Willis and his team of be-haloed tough guys set the world to rights once more, using just truth, justice and the American way. As a political drama it is incredibly simplistic and self righteous, all the Africans in the film being either murderous savages or helpless victims and there are plenty of shots of wailing mothers, murdered children and rape victims to help bludgeon the point home. The characters are the usual mix of morally...

Needed Time to Get the Right Footing

The movie started off a little too slow for my liking but it got so much more interesting during the second half so I am ultimately recommending it. Before the half-way point, I didnít see the point of the movie because it seemed like the story was going nowhere. I mean, the Special-Ops team, led by Bruce Willis, had a plan and all but none of it was actually executed right away because there were too many scenes where the people being rescued were shown crying and saying goodbye. That said, there were also too many scenes where the filmmakers tried to make the audience care. I feel like they didnít need to do that because we can see what was happening; most audiences will care, whether they like it or not, when they see refugees trying to escape from murdering rebels. Most critics didnít...
