New DVD Releases to Crave This Week: Titans Clashing, Repo Men and... Mussolini?

It's a bit of a slow week, but there's always a few major releases to whet the appetite.

1) If you're in the mood for action then Clash of the Titans should be right up your alley. I still say Sam Worthington is about as exciting a wet cardboard box, but there are plenty of monsters and snarling gods to keep things interesting. I'm still ashamed that I saw this in 3D, but it was a decent effort even if the original is far more fun in my opinion.

2) Still with the action, Repo Men is not a remake of the 80s Repo Man, but rather a new film in which organs are bought on credit and if you can't pay, say goodbye to that new liver or heart. At least the premise sounds interesting. It didn't get the greatest reviews or earnings, but this is a solid Netflix rental at least.

3) As long as you don't mind subtitles and are looking for something more serious then Vincere is the perfect fit. It's all about Mussolini and his cult of personality, along with his relationships he developed along the way to being Italy's beloved then scorned leader.

4) Finally, if you like martial arts, be sure to catch Ip Man. Starring Donnie Yen, the comparisons to Jet Li's Fearless will come up, but Ip Man stands on its own as both a feast for martial arts fan and the historical content it presents. The collector's edition features numerous interviews, making-of featurettes, deleted scenes and tour and location visits.

On the blu-ray front my most anticipated release is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Still my favorite of all the new wuxia films - it's gorgeous setting and poetic fights will surely look better in HD.
