New Movies to Crave: Dawn Breaks for Twilight Fans, Happy Feet Two & Descendents Fight for Scraps

All (tween) eyes will be glued to the screen this weekend as the fate of Bella, Edward and Jacob is decided... well, at least the first part of fate.

1) There is no escaping from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1. Mobs of hysterical fans (some of them adult) who will swarm theaters this weekend guarantee this film will open #1. Now, how high it will open depends on repeat viewings. The truly die hard fans aren't happy until they see it at least three times, if not more. I never understood the appeal of this particular series, but then I'm both a Star Wars and Harry Potter fan, so I do understand audience reaction.

2) If you aren't into Twilight, you do have options. Family-friendly option #1 is Happy Feet Two. Picking up where the first film left off, our Penguins will once again learn a valuable lesson about being their own individuals and dance (or sing) their way to happiness. I wasn't such a big fan of the original. I have no idea where this will come in - depends of if audiences prefer cats over penguins for their affections.

3) Finally, Oscar-starved audiences can go with option #3, Nebraska native (Go Big Red!) Alexander Payne's The Descendants. George Clooney leads the cast - the film is getting good reviews but like most of these dramas, I doubt it will have a huge opening. Still, I hope the best for Payne as there aren't too many Hollywood-Nebraska connections to crow about, and he's certainly at the top of the list.

So - how many Twi-hards are out there? We'll see come Sunday when I'm sure I'll be talking about how many records have been broken by weeping, screaming fans.
