The Force is Strong... with Laughter!

As the huge Star Wars fan I am, it's with great pleasure that it has been announced that Lucasfilm is teaming with the duo of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich (creators of Robot Chicken) on an animated comedy program.

Along with Daily Show writer Brendan Hay the program, most likely to appear on Cartoon Network (current location of the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars program), will feature background and lesser known characters.

"It's crazy to think that there aren't normal, mundane everyday problems in a world so well-defined," Green says. "What do these characters do when they're not overthrowing empires?"

If the two Robot Chicken Star Wars episodes are any indication - this should be fun. Green is a bigger Star Wars nerd than I am (and that's saying something) so he shouldn't have any problems coming up with ideas. I don't know how far they can stretch it - whether they're only going to use existing characters or come up with original creations - but if it can hold out for a few seasons, or more, I'll be happy.

I'm going to follow this news with great interest.
