It is finally here - the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - an epic film featuring 76 characters, that's right, Infinity War has landed. As if the MCU needed any help, but certainly the huge showing for Black Panther is only going to serve the film even better. Infinity War has already set records for pre-ticket sales and estimates, on the conservative side, point to a $225 million opening with many saying it has a chance to break the opening weekend record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($248 million). It also has no competition (big surprise) so it is going to be a massive opening.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Nothing is going to stop Disney and Marvel's clout at the box office and Infinity War is shaping up to be the biggest film yet for the ultra-popular franchise. While not every film has been a home run (including Age of Ultron) this has earned a very good 86% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the humongous cast of heroes (everyone is here from the Guardians of the Galaxy to our titular Avengers, Dr. Strange, the entire nation of Wakanda and more!) a new, powerful villain in Thanos (Josh Brolin) and some surprises, the film seems to have found a way to fit everything in. Just think, I was worried when the original Avengers film came out there would be a problem fitting in every character - and that was like, what, with six of them? The Avengers, to me, remains the high-water mark for this series, expertly weaving in action, humor and character depth. By all accounts, Infinity War manages to do the same thing on a much larger scale. I'm still worried about how they're going to fit so much in... but it looks like they succeed (for the most part) based on the reception it has received. It also seems the ending will blow you away and ends on a cliffhanger - I'm going to have to avoid the spoilers as I am waiting a week before watching this (it's tough, but I'll manage). If audiences embrace this as they have Black Panther, it will likely be the top-grossing film of the year and I don't think we're going to have to wait long to see just how big it's going to get.

It's Marvels time to shine yet again as this culmination of MCU films is going to dominate the weekend and may just wind up the biggest opening of all time. I'll be here on Sunday with the mighty results.
