New Movies to Crave: I See Red People... and Jackasses

While the Social Network has been going strong for two weeks running, I see it being dethroned this week.

1) The most likely contender? Red - or as I like to call it: The Expendables with Good Actors. Yes, once again you have some aging icon coming together, but Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman are on a slighty higher level than Dolph Lundgren and Terry Crews. Plus seeing Mirren work that SMG, worth the money right there. It looks like this one will be plenty of fun.

2) Never underestimate the power of the lowest common denominator! Enter Jackass 3-D. If you like watching grown men experience pain and humiliation in new and exciting ways, then you've probably seen the first two Jackass films and can't wait to see what they do next. I don't know if I would want to watch this in 3D or not, as there are only so many hits to the junk that are funny.

3) If you want something with a little more depth, than Conviction is right up your alley. Plenty of drama, courtroom and otherwise, with plenty of struggle and hard-won opportunity. Sam Rockwell has proven time and time again that he is an actor to be reckoned with, hopefully this continues his streak.

4) Finally, if you don't want to see Red, then BE red - well, at least politically. The documentary I Want Your Money is also coming out and while saying it presents two different points of view on handling the economy, it's slants SLIGHTLY conservative (sarcasm is much harder to do online than you would think). Chances of me seeing this? Let me check - nope, hell still not frozen over.

We'll see if any newcomers can take down David Fincher and his zeitgeist-capturing film this weekend.
