A comedy classic? No. One of the most hilarious you've ever seen? Hardly. But if you're up for some laughs as the lead character supposedly is sweet and nice, but is secretly one of the meanest, nastiest, foul-mouthed broad you've seen in a film, then you're in for a surprising treat. Mary Poppins she isn't.

I've seen this several times and find it entertaining. I think it's one of the better John Waters movies. Kathleen Turner is terrific and the other main characters are played so well. This is not Roman Polanski or Orson Welles, it's from a different kind of mind.

This is a through and through camp movie for those who don't mind John Waters' special brand of comedy. I gave this movie a low rating only because it ran on a bit too long and could have done more with the jokes, but it's worth watching for its absurd take on crime and the media, and of course, for the numerous scenes of Kathleen Turner attacking people for the simplest offenses.

Only staunch John Waters or Kathleen Turner fans should watch this film. I never found this funny or even remotely likable. Once was more than enough for me. Serial Mom could kill me by making me watch this movie again.
