For young people and the young at heart. Good performances in a familiar idea. A feel good film. U.S. girl finds out she's really a princess of another country and has to decide whether to accept the role.

Enjoyable, harmless Disney comedy. I liked it more than I thought I would.

This film was a great addition to the 2001 family film line-up, and added to its box-office gross that showcased a mild success, "The Princess Diaries" was a great awakening performance for the grossly talented Anne Hathaway (though the world has yet to see her full potential, that is, until we've all been deemed worthy of her talent), as well as re-introducing a great talent Julie Andrews to a younger audience, which in turn re-introduced her former successes.

This is one of those fun, feel good, family films. It's hard to go wrong with one of these. I think Julie and Anne did a great job in this one. I never get tired of this movie.
