A cinematic as well as a literary classic, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is a driven film, asking the audience to believe in a world of sanity when all there is around you is insanity. A brilliant performance (one of almost every single one) by Jack Nicholson, as well as a wonderful supporting cast brings about some of cinema's most memorable moments. What strikes me so plaintively about this film is the fact that even the villain has redemptive qualities and much of the film is spent in dealing with the fact that both protagonist and antagonist positions are held by both leading characters. A wonderful gem of a flick.

Terrific film about the effects of institutionalization. All of the characters are well written and 3 dimensional. The dynamic between the patients is well done and every scene is interesting in some way. It is a very human story because it wants to treat all the patients as humans. The power struggle between the patients completely lead by McMurphy well played by Jack Nicholson and the head nurse. Every scene in this movie really does work and it gets to an effective conclusion.

Jack Nicholson is always at his best. Film is set to a very realistic setting. Plot is a little bit too absurd, but I believe that it is more commonplace now in the modern legal system. One's plea for insanity could offer him the ticket to a mental asylum, rather than end up in barred hell. Would you rather get raped or play cards with some cuckoos? Amazing how MCMURPHY (JACK NICHOLSON) has blended in well with other patients and incite a riot. Good to the end.

Great movie. I love the part where Chief Bromden talks for the first time. A true classic. See It.

Amazingly good. The story is horrifying and disturbing. Nicholson is incredible. Not a show for the faint of heart.

This is, by far, the greatest movie ever made about American mental healthcare. It also happens to be Jack Nicholson's best as well. No matter how many times I watch it, I never grow tired of this movie. It has, possibly, the best ending of any movie. GO, CHIEF, GO!!! lol.

I recently purchased and watched the two-disc special edition of this movie. It is remastered and the picture quality and sound are excellent. There are deleted scenes and 'the making of' on disc two which was interesting to watch. This is one of the best movies ever made. It is no. 20 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 greatest American films; definately in the top 5 on my list. R. P. McMurphy and Nurse 'Mildred' Ratched are unforgettable. Many of the scenes in this movie are unforgettable. The acting from the entire cast seems so natural and real. Masterpiece

Jack Nicholson starring as a convict in an insane asylum is perfect casting. This was actually a bit of a letdown for me, considering all of the hype i heard, and the fact that it won best picture in 1975. All of the acting is terrific, and the plot and writing is good, but it just left me wanting more. Dog Day Afternoon should've won that year. This is a good film, just not as great as the majority claims it to be.

Powerful film, but lacks some of the coldness and efficacy of the book.

Decent movie with some emotional scenes but for the most part there isn't anything special here, a very overrated movie.
