A movie as depraved, disturbing, and unpredictable as everyone says. It's also just as great.

Oldboy is a fantastic originally revenge movie with a gritty tone and some hard to watch scenes. Now that's what I call a revenge story and movie.

'Oldboy' is a uniquely stylized and crazy film that defies any genre classification. Utilizing striking direction, supreme violence, and traces of black humor, every scene entertains in a new way. The mystery driving the story is completely involving. You never know what is coming next, right up to the final moments. The finale to the 'villain's' plan is unexpectedly twisted. Gathering the motives and resolution from both sides of the situation leaves much to be said about the act of vengeance and the terrible effect it bestows upon one's enemy.

weird movie. but at least it sticks out from other films i've seen lately, but the ending leaves me with an awkward/gross feeling.. the movie's good, how it's filmed and acted is also good, and it keeps you interested all the way, but it's just not my kind of movie i guess... maybe if you have more bakground knowledge (and interest for mangas) it's easier to like.

This second film of Chan-wook Park's revenge trilogy is its most impactful and emotionally devastating. The story is well-built to disguise the many twists and turns, but once the secrets of the plots are revealed, the emotional result is both intriguing and tragic. Well-acted and filmed.

Gloriously violent and extremely brutal revenge thriller, which could only come from the Far East. Complex, disturbing and at times cartoonish, Oldboy offers many questions and few answers yet remains a mesmerizing and challenging ride. Bold, belligerent and beautiful, Oldboy will not be everyone's cup of tea, but its style and substance far outweigh its few flaws. An enigmatic journey of revenge, murder and redemption.

By far the best of Chan-wook Park revenge themed trilogy and one of the greatest movies of all time, unfortunately an American remake is on the way...

The story is absolutely ridiculous. Everything else is good, but bad story == bad movie.

Action: 3 / 3, Comedy: 1 / 2, Good vs Evil: 1 / 1, Love/Sex: 1 / 1, Special Effects: 1 / 1, Plot: 1 / 1, Music: 1 / 1 = 9/10 or 90%. This film is truly revenge incarnate to the point that one will definitely squirm watching what individuals will do to get even. Wonderfully acted and developed though the opus scale of the film is slightly grandiose.

No one does revenge better than Chan-wook Park. The middle of the "vengeance" trilogy is arguably the greatest. A story that will at first leave you scratching your head, then will leave you reeling. A one-two punch that leaves you stunned.
