Review - Dream Warriors (1987)

When Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) begins work at a mental facility for kids who have been having terrible dreams involving Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), she realizes that she needs to help them get rid of the evil spirit once and for all in “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.”

I enjoyed the first. I thought the story was much better in the second (though I've watched it since writing my review and, even though I won't rewrite it, I think I rated it a bit high). Then here's the third one. This is the first of the movies to have the comical feel that has plagued the series since. All of the death scenes are ridiculous and idiotic, as well as some of the characters.

The Franchise Finds Its Groove

I guess they knew they had to redeem themselves after Part II.

This did a great job.

Freddy gets some personality and becomes the witty smart-ass we've all come to know and love.

The deaths are creative and particular to each character (for the most part).

And who could argue with people finally realizing that these are dreams and within them, anything can be possible (it's almost like The Matrix year ahead in it's time). And get this....Lawrence Fishburne was in this movie too.....coincidence??????????

I would have liked to see the characters utilize their "dream powers" a bit more. Though not too shabby for '87. If they were to do this movie now.....I think the computer artists would be busy thinking up cool ass stuff.
