Imaginative and Visually Stunning

The Nightmare Before Christmas represents what one might argue to be the most famous and well known stopmotion film of all time. It's one of the few films that generally receive annual viewings, and it's often raved as Tim Burton's best film (despite actually being directed by Henry Selick). Even if this is a case of style over substance, I couldn't help but be enchanted by this visually stunning picture, and I feel this is truly worthy of its cult classic status.

Jack Skellington, the hailed leader of Halloweenland wraps up yet another successful Halloween. The entire land loves him, and though Jack receives much adoration, he feels bored with his job, and wants something different. A fair movie targeted more to children than adults

"Tim Burton's A Nightmare Before Christmas" is a fair family film that has more weak points than strong points.

First, the music is not the best, They all sound pretty much the same, and none really stand out. The songs do sound like something zombies and monsters would sing however. I also think that there were just too many songs throughout the entire film.

The story is somewhat memorable, but pretty predictable. Personally, I think that children would like the story more than adults.

The performances are pretty good as well. However, the main characters don't have equal time on-screen. And many of the supporting characters could have been seen more, especially any that had a part in a subplot.

The animation is the biggest strength this film has. The characters are …

Amazing claymation

Tim Burton takes on the animation world with his use of claymation techniques in this dark and amazing musical film. At the time when this was released claymation has been all but abandoned in mainstream circles. Too many people would related to the old "California rasins" commercials and people felt that it seemed dated, but when Burton took his ideas and put them to work, he came out with a surprising masterpeice that people were drawn to unexpectedly.
In collaboration with Disney, The Nighmare before Christmas became a cult hit that people still talk about today as though it were only recently released. A wonderful approach at an old animation style that should not be forgotten. The Nightmare Before Christmas will be a well known movie for years to come.
