Vampire road movie with a bit of a western vibe that starts out kind of interesting but then becomes a bit like a cross between The Lost Boys meets The Terminator. Bill Paxton and Lance Henricksen are very good. The leads are pretty bland The makeup and gore effects are great though..

With the noticeable popularity of movies about teenage vampire romances, I'm surprised this underrated western gothic gem from the late 80s hasn't resurfaced.

"Howdy. I'm gonna separate your head from your shoulders. Hope you don't mind none." What an amazing actor and one of the best. Bill was perfect in everything role he did. Even if it was a small part, Paxton would always stood out from the rest. R.I.P Bill Paxton

A great mix of horror, bloody action, some romance and a little western. Add in a dash of humor and you have a unique and memorable vampire movie.

Combined with the Lost Boys, there's enough 80's vampires cheese to go around. There are definitely some creepy and interesting moments in this cult classic, but, for the most part, I found the vampires a little too caricature-like. They come across as silly, rather than menacing, and you can't get away from the terrible 80's dialogue or music.

This is the essential 80's vampire movie. Kathryn Bigelow and Eric Red manage to create a unique story of a "family" of vampires and make it into a road movie. Strong performances all around, Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton obviously having the most fun with their roles. Only thing bringing down the total rating is a stupid plot device at the third act, but I recommend this to everyone who loves a good horror movie.
