Cheap wannabe Star Wars meets Conan

Cheesy mixture of science fiction and high fantasy as if dreamed up by a drunken George Lucas. In prequel mode.
Dolph Lundgren certainly looks the part as He-Man but his acting is not that good;rumor is he had to learn English phonetically during filming. It shows. It's weird that Courteney Cox is in this but I guess she's okay. Frank Langella is a lot of fun as Skeletor but he's not in the movie that much.
The action scenes when it's just jumping and swordplay isn't terrible but not especially memorable. However, towards the end it gets into Flash Gordon levels of stupidity. The hoverboard chase has to be seen to be believed in its absurdity. The sets and costumes look expensive but at the same time, it's so obvious that Golan-Globus were hoping this would be a new Star Wars type …

We all like to see comics and cartoons to be as modern and realistic when shown on the big screen. Masters of the Universe does just that, giving us a practical and fresh version of the iconic hero.

After the cosmic key, a device that can open portals to other dimensions, finds itself on earth along with He-man, Man-At-Arms and Teela. A race to locate it begins. The battle of Eternia comes to earth, with He-Man having to protect his friends, the teenagers and the Sorceress, who has been taken hostage by Skeletor.

Considering that this …

Masters of the Universe for the most part still holds up as a pretty good fantasy/adventure flick. The cast was pretty solid. Dolph Lundgren was a perfect fit for Eternia's greatest warrior, He-Man. He was joined by MOTU staples Man-At-Arms & Teela. A bumbling dwarf by the name of Gwildor was created for this film. He was a pretty good replacement for Orco. A very cute post "dancing in the dark" Courteney Cox also stars.
On the bad side you have an awesome performance by Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon) as Skeletor. He was joined by a great looking Evil-Lyn & Beastman. There were three kick-ass new villians. Saurod, Blade and Karg showed up to add a bit more danger for our heroes.
Also there was a plot point about a thing called the Cosmic Key. To me it looked like a futuristic …
