I was debating whether to give this a three stars out of four because I really liked a lot of the elements that worked with this movie. For instance, I did buy who the characters were, where they lived, the time period, what they love doing, and the changes they went through after skateboarding went mainstream. Plus, I thought Heath Ledger was so interesting in this film. He made me laugh because of the way he talked and his mannerisms. I liked all that... but I can't quite give it another star because I feel like this film is widely uneven. The grittiness that I admired during the first hour quickly dissipated half-way through it.
