People rave about Steve Martin's cameo, but comic musicals fail because of one fundamental flaw. Comedy songs are NEVER funny. |

Terrific music, with a seemingly happier ending than the original. The song "Skid Row" is powerful and who can deny "Suddenly Seymour" is a title to think about? |

A musical/comedy cult film along the lines of 'Rocky Horror'. In fact, I watched this as a double feature paired with said movie, when I was very young. I found a strange love for these odd films. More so with this one. It's just camp fun. |

A decent enough envisioning of the musical. I didn't like that some of the songs were extracted, in particular "Don't Feed the Plants." Christopher Guest's cameo is the high point. |

It's a little used to get to the campy tone of this musical, but there are some sly bits of comedy in here. The music, of course, is the real star and is absolutely awesome. |

As a comedy / musical this works surprisingly well. It has a campy look and feel, but embraces it instead of fighting it. I especially like Steve Martin's demented dentist / evil boyfriend. Demented yet fun at the same time. |
