A fair enough family fantasy - but I'm guessing the book is much better. The story has great potential, but this truncated version can't do it justice. It's a pleasant trifle, just don't expect to be blown away.

I really don't know what to say, I didn't dislike this adaptation, but I wasn't a huge fan of it either. Basically it's a condensed telling of the story that leaves room open for the sequels. The special effects were okay, but they look pretty done before. I liked most of the cast, but to me, Brendan Fraser just felt out of place as Mo. This movie wasn't offensively bad, just not a very remarkable one, which is a bit of a disappointment considering how the book's storytelling was very good and just better overall.
