This movie is mostly about a father's love and, when it sticks with Tommy Lee Jones's commanding performance, it succeeds. Occasionally, the film gets mired in the more procedural details of the investigation and, then, when it moves away from the emotional core, it gets a little tired and cliched.

Not really all that compelling but it actually was pretty decent. I would not put it in my top 10 or anything for the year. But it is amazing how your faith in something you love can change some quickly. I like TLJ more and more every time.

Tommy Lee Jones makes this movie work - his performance alone it worth the watch. Combine that with a powerful story and some excellent supporting characters and you have a recipe for success. My only issue was that it dragged a little.

I liked the simplicity of this film. Tommy Lee Jones was perfectly cast and he gave an amazing performance. Well deserved Oscar nomination.

A quiet, sobering account of loss, though the crime investigation is aloof and unbelievable. Tommy Lee Jones holds it together in an affecting performance as a father seeking the truth. Final Grade: B

I really enjoyed watching this movie, but at the end of it I just thought, it wasn't all that great. Don't ask me why, i just did. It just seemd like it was all monocoloured, all on the same level. The scenes that should have been surprising and made an impact didn't, they were under-exaggerated. But overral a good movie.

This film is worth watching for Tommy Lee Jones, who plays a father who's son in the Army is reported AWOL then found dead. Jones, a retired seargent himself, implants himself into the investigation, led by Charlize Theron, to figure out what happened. It's interesting to find out what eventually happens, though at times the fact that Jones is the only one who can figure anything out gets a little predictable. Susan Sarandon, in a small, understated role as the mother provides an emotional punch to the few scenes she's in. I could have done without the political statement about our country in the last shot, but other than that it's pretty good.
