A solid martial arts film. Fighting and story combined in high caliber.

It is loosely based on the life of Huo Yuanjia, a famous Chinese martial artist who challenged foreign fighters in highly publicised events, restoring pride and nationalism to China at a time when Western imperialism and Japanese manipulation were eroding the country during the last few years before the birth of the Republic of China.Too much melodramatic and exagerated.I was expecting so much about this boring movie.

If this is truly Jet Li's final martial arts film, I'm glad he went out the way he did. Beautifully choreographed fights highlight this tale of a man searching for his true destiny.

The fights were fantastic and very beautiful to watch. I wish the movie had a little bit more substance, the soul-searching can only go on for so long before you want more. Overall it is a good martial arts movie.
