The most laborious, grating, and unmagical film Spielberg has ever directed, the ridiculously popular "Hook" has never been one of my family film favorites and it never will.

The essential 90's family film with Robin Williams.

It's a harmless family film.

Steven, didn't 1941 teach you anything...? A huge cast of stars chew the scenery in Spielberg's painfully self indulgent take on the Peter Pan story. The "streetwise" lost boys are annoying and it's soaked in saccharine, but some of the set pieces are entertaining and Hoffman is amusing as Captain Hook.

Spielberg does his best to draw as much adventure as possible out of a new take on a familiar story, but, oddly, the magic is missing from this project. The acting feels uninspired and, though the set-pieces are impressive, the nostalgic, "i don't want to grow up" feeling is better captured in the Disney animated film than in this movie.

A slight twist on the Peter Pan story makes for an adequately fun old fashioned fantasy adventure.

The effects were believable, unfortunately the screenplay doesn't inspire. A star studded cast and yet it doesn't bring too much entertainment. Hook doesn't really get you hooked, but for a short time it can get your attention. Not one of Spielberg's best.

Robin Willians as Peter Pan and Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell, what more can I say?!

This movie will forever remind me of my childhood friend who loved it. That's about the most meaningful review I can give.

I have to say that Dustin Hoffman is very good as Hook and Bob Hoskins is good a Shmee, but nothing else about this is really any good. Robin Williams is a bad Peter pan and Julia Roberts is a really nothing Tinkerbell. The story is not really interesting because it really is not effective at using the fantasy of the original peter pan. There are a lot of semi neat looking things but they do not really mean anything. You know there has to be a problem when you want much more villain than hero and yo want the villain to just put him out of his misery.
