A great movie that works as a re-imagining of "Stagecoach" but with a social conscience. It's made better by the fact that the characters are not completely black or white stock types. Except for the villain (played by Richard Boone) who is a bit more crude and vicious than what is typical for the genre. Paul Newman is excellent as the coolheaded protagonist and aided by a good cast.

I like Paul Newman & I like Westerns so I expected to like Hombre more then I did but I didnt.I really didnt get interested until the final scenes.If your in the mood for a western & its on TV then watch it

Ahhhhhhh, yes, the old "white-guy-turned-American-Indian" thing again. We all know the story-line. And, we all love it! C'mon! You know you do! Well, I'm no different. This is a great movie. However, it would've been much better had the message about rape been a better one.
