"There only shall be one". As he tries to keep one step ahead of the New York City police, who believe him to be a suspect in a murder in the parking garage of Madison Square Garden, a man born in the 1500's battles another immortal who tried to kill him centuries ago. This movie is a action fantasy flick that the movie screams bad-ass all the way thought.

A cult classic of a film that succeeds on the innate silliness of its plot and action. Like other films of cult status (Big Trouble in Little China comes to mind), Highlander walks a thin line between macabre horror and tongue-in-cheek cheesiness that, somehow, provides a fun, funny, and often exciting adventure tale.

I understand why the film has achieved cult status. It has all the right elements, but the story needed a little more work. Something about it just didn't grow on me like all the rest who recommended I watch it. I still enjoyed it some, though.

Action: 3 / 3, Comedy: 0.5 / 2, Good vs Evil: 1 / 1, Love/Sex: 1 / 1, Special Effects: 0.5 / 1, Plot: 1 / 1, Music: 1 / 1. Overall 8 / 10 or 80%, which is 3 / 4 stars per my rating formula. Immortals seeking the ultimate reward in addition to their eternal life sword fight their way through an enjoyable, original though flawed New York.
