This movie was made in 1979 but feels like one of the wartime propaganda B-movies churned out 30, 40 years earlier. It aims for an epic romantic scale but instead seems shallow and forced. Harrison Ford and Christopher Plummer might make an interesting buddy pairing in a different film. But they're stuck with stock characters. Lesley-Anne Down is quite lovely to look at but it's hard to feel pity for a wife willing to cuckold her husband so readily. The much touted flying sequences haven't aged well. Apparently they used real bombers but they look fake for some reason. Easily one of Ford's worst movies.
