This remake of a classic movie was a bit dissapointing. Most of the songs were alright, but dragged on too long. The cast was fairly good (impressive roles by John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiifer, and Nicky Blonsky) but the plot got a little messed up. For example, the scene where Velma (Michelle Pfeiffer) pretends to be in love with Mr. Turnbladt (Christopher Walken) so that his love life would be ruined was pretty dumb and random, in my opinion. The old one was better, but this is still enjoyable.

Not a good movie. How can this one even be nominated for a Golden Globe? Musicals are supposed to be engaging with great music. Not only is this a remake, it also looks like a TV produced movie. JT is at the end of his crappy career.

Hmm...not so special but the dancing and music was ok. It was a happy and bright movie.

This was a wonderful on screen adaptation of the broadway musical. The music is upbeat, the cast is expertly put together and it delivered laugh after laugh. John Travolta, Christopher Walken and Michelle Pfeiffer no doubt stole the show. They made their supporting characters shine. If you have seen the actual broadway production be prepared for a few changes. There were some pretty big scenes cut from the film, but they pulled it together rather nicely. The only real problem I had with this movie was the obvious contractual extra song they threw in for Queen Latifa that was thrown into the middle of a set of upbeat songs and brought the movie down with it's slow and depressing mood. All in all, this is a great movie!
