Fun film.

A fairly enjoyable romp with pleasantness all around. The music is fine I really like the classics and the "new" stuff for the film is okay. The story is good enough to follow through because of the likable performances from Barry Fitzgerald who is always very likable especially in the quiet man and Bing Crosby who is actually toned down in this film and that is a good thing. It is not like he is in High Society where he really over does everything. So good film with a message I certainly support.

Review - Going My Way (1944)

Father Fitzgibbon (Barry Fitzgerald) was getting along in years when the bishop sent Father Chuck O'Malley (Bing Crosby) to help the church out of financial trouble. The two learn to get along in the Best Picture winning film “Going My Way.”

What I like about this movie is that it makes you feel good without forcing it on you. The emotion is subtle and yet impacting. Crosby gives a charming performance, while Fitzgerald gives a classic and lovable one. I might add that both of them won Best Actor and Supporting Actor, respectively. The film won four other awards (Director, Song, Story, and Screenplay), all of which it rightly deserved.

The film does have many faults though. While the story is relatively solid, there are a few events that seem either random or unnecessary. There …
