Good film! Acting was very good. Jake Gyllenhaal surprised me with his character, he actually knows how to act. The color of this film was good and had great sound! All the supporting actors did a great job!

Right off the bat, "Life" imitates the "Alien" franchise to the point it can't help but look like a rip-off.

Sure, you can write this off as a blatant attempt to copy Alien, but it's actually not that bad. The alien design is pretty good and it has plenty of tension to keep things going. The big-name actors aren't given nearly enough, especially top-billed Ryan Reynolds, who doesn't stick around that long. Rehashing aside, it's still a decent sci-fi thriller with a killer ending that, sadly, does not have anything to do with Venom.

It's telling when the character that you feel the most sympathetic for is the rat strapped down in a cage. It's also a bad sign that I wasn't once actually scared watching this movie despite the R rating. It's clearly trying to be Alien (1979) and the script is nowhere close. I will credit the cinematographer for doing their job well. Life (2017) is a great looking movie but it lacks suspense and wastes a talented cast.
