Beauty and the Beast...looks great at least?

Indyfreak - wrote on 07/25/2017

The biggest blockbuster of the year so far turns out not to be a superhero movie but a live action remake of an animated classic. And as inoffensive as it is, people are better off revisiting the original film.
Beauty and the Beast (2017) certainly isn't a bad film but it is bland and plays it safe when re-imagining one of Disney's most cherished animated films. It plays the same notes as the original story with a few minor changes being made.
The cast is fine for the most part and the visuals are indeed stunning. The sets, the costumes, and the computer effects look impressive. The songs are energetic and the cast is game to recreate some iconic moments. Emma Watson is adequate as Belle but her singing has clearly been modified. Dan Stevens goes for broke as the grouchy hulking …

It was magical

"When we return to the village, you will marry me. And the Beast's head will hang on our wall!"

I'm really not ashamed to admit that I'm always looking forward to watch a live-action rendition of a Disney cartoon. We've seen a few of those already passing by. One more successful than the other. Or better, one I liked more than the other. "Maleficent", "The BFG" and especially "The Jungle Book" were, in my view, gorgeous adaptations. I was less enthusiastic about "Alice in Wonderland". And when you read which cartoons Disney is going to make a live-action movie of, there's still a lot of fun waiting for us. And when you read which cartoons Disney is going to make a live-action movie off, there's still a lot of fun waiting for us. Brace yourself! These are coming our way : "The Lion …

Twice-Told Tale as Old as Time

Ask any fan of Disney animation what their favorite film in their vast catalog is and I'll be a good 8 out of 10 will pick Beauty and the Beast. It's a big gamble to take one of the most beloved animated films of all time and present a new live-action version. Granted, Disney has had great success - Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book - all have been hits and led to a new revenue stream for the studio. I admit, I thought this whole live action revolution was a cash-grab on Disney's part but, for the most part, I have actually been quite impressed with the results.

Beauty and the Beast is no exception. The lavish design, the big musical numbers, the pretty amazing cast - they went all-out to provide that same experience one felt seeing the 1991 animated film for the first time. …

Beauty and the Beast - Review

"Forever can spare a minute."

The best way to describe 2017 "Beauty and the Beast" is the same thing I said about Cinderella (2015). If you seen the 1991 version then you've seen the new one already.

To be fair, I liked this movie way more than Cinderella. Just the musical numbers and the stellar voice acting was one of the highlights of the film. Sir Ian McKellen and Ewan McGregor both steal the show.

Oh and if Josh Gad isn't the worst or annoying part of your movie, then you done something right. He's was pretty damn in this. Same thing with Luke Evens as the cartoon villain which fitted nicely in this type of universe.

While I still prefer the idea of the Beast being more practical rather than CGI, but Dan Stevens still gave a solid performance as the character.

Beside …

1991 slays this beast

Cavernstones - wrote on 03/26/2017

This lavish live action production from Disney is of course a loving homage to it's animated Oscar winning predecessor. However, despite it' s big budget, big stars, and big expectations this one falls flat. Most notably in the singing. Sure Emma Watson is absolutely gorgeous as Belle, but her obvious auto tune singing had no feeling though it was .. clean. The sets were stunning and the story true to the original 1991 hit with a few modifications that helped to clean up some of the plot holes. But unfortunately the magic sputtered. Ewan MgGregor, Luke Evans and Dan Stevens (Lumiere, Gaston, and The Beast) were for themselves well cast and helped draw us into the world and out of our own. Unfortunately the same can't be said for Josh Gad, and Ian Mckellen both of whom were over acted …

OK so I walked into the theater to see beauty and the beast not sure what to expect from the remake but I went to see it anyway and I was just amazed by the way I loved the movie don't get me wrong I have always loved beauty and the beast but I fell deep in love with this one I loved Emma Watson as Bell she is beautiful charming and also strong enough to handle the world herself by herself yes I was a little bit uncomfortable during the Gaston song due to the homesexual dancing in the number at one point of it and to me that was worse than the.contraversail dance. At the end of the movie which wasn't all that bad I might just not be the type of guy who throws a huge fit over everything but I didn't see the big deal and I definitely think that you should take the family to see this …
