Thoroughly disappointing - lacks any of the creepiness that made the first one (either the Japanese or English version) so memorable. It has no depth of character, a dull story and is just a mess all around. If someone was hoping to reboot this series, it fell woefully short and with all the better horror out there right now, don't even bother with this one.

Got off to a good start, with some lovely/grotesque imagery and an interesting premise, but eventually it settled into dull and unsatisfying horror cliches that betrayed the distinctive weirdness of the original film.
