Robert Rodriguez's teen horror film borrows too much from classic 1950s sci-fi movies for its own good. But as a 'Body Snatchers' meets 'Scream' type of story, it is entertaining for the pop culture references and some surprisingly gory kills. The all star cast is onboard for the gruesome hijinks.

The story is about a typical high school full of typical cliques and characters - until the teachers and students start acting different - and a handful of students discover an alien parasite. Now all they have to do is find a way to stop it. This movie is scary and gross. Robert Rodriguez has a odd look to he's movies like go watch planet terror and the spy kids.

Not on the same level of say 'Body Snatchers', but still fun nonetheless. Once it gets going, it doesn't stop.

Hard to get behind this sci-fi film fully. The plot is a little far-fetched and the action a little dumbed down. The cast is full of young actors at the start of their careers and they are all very watchable, but the film never quite picks up enough steam to be fully horrific or interesting, as I think Rodriguez intended it to be.

Growing up, this was definitely one of those movies that I watched probably on a monthly basis. As silly as the storyline is for a young crowd, and dare I say perhaps even now, this film is fun and entertaining.

Alright, I'll say it, I do love watching this movie. Anytime it showed up on HBO or Showtime, I tuned in and dropped off the face of the world, becoming totally entrapped by this silly little story which is somehow reminiscent of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." A wickedly cool cast led by Elijah Wood and Josh Hartnett, this film is a guilty pleasure, no doubt, but a pleasure nonetheless.

Before he stepped foot in a city of sin, before he terrorized an entire planet, Robert Rodriguez met the faculty. Starring so hot rising stars, this is a sci-fi/horror film that never really gets off the ground. OK, but nothing special.
