This is the film that introduced me to the horror genre and ever since I have been a fan. It deals with humanity's deepest and darkest fears and never reveals to much as far as gore and disturbing imagery. I mean there is enough of it but it leaves a lot more to the imagination than most horror films do today. The direction is perfect and the performances are very well done, I have to especially give props to Linda Blair (who was only 14) because Regan is the scariest monster to ever explode onto the silver screen. The movie also deals with the age old question of good and evil and the end result is very satisfying.

I think that what makes the exorcist so disturbing is seeing how sweet and innocent this young girl is, and then her transforming into an aggressive, dirty, swearing monster. But I don't think it is scary though, it's not really supposed to be. But, after watching it with a group of friends who screamed their heads off at various scenes, i began questioning this conclusion. But no, I realized, they are just wusses. So i loved this movie, though my friends thought it was 'too' scary :S

This is one of the classic horror films. I couldn't resist watching this even if i had a gun pointed to my head. Of course i gave it a 4/4. If you love horror films and you haven't seen this movie you shouldn't review anything at all cause you don't deserve to this movie is the best of its kind.

One of the scariest movies of all time. See it at night and you'll really be traumatized.

This film scared the hell out of me when I was little. Great effects about Regan Teresa Mac Neil being possessed by an unknown force after talking with captain Howdy. My daughter who is 14yrs watched it at 11pm with her friend last night as they had never seen it before, told them to watch in the day wouldn’t listen, so they watched it in a bark room and scared themselves with the face popping up in some of the scenes.

Is this the scariest movie of all-time, as some critics would have you to believe? No, but it's quite good. The director's cut is a must see, don't see the original.

Still the scariest movie of all time, and not likely to be dethroned by the new horror movie formula: unexpected cheap thrills paired with bad acting. This movie has an eeriness that doesn't let up through the whole movie. There are so many scenes that were so messed up and terrifying that I couldn't forget them if I wanted to. The new scenes that were added into the 25th anniversary edition are also great. I wish the backwards spider walk scene was in the original movie. If you haven?t seen this movie you are missing out on a horror classic and a great movie. If you like the Exorcist, check out the Exorcist III, it is very scary as well. The other two movies including the new one really missed the mark.

What can be more scary than watching a person you love transform into something evil? Not knowing what's causing it. The Exorcist plays on those fears and blasts it back in full force. Evil has never looked so innocent and horrifying.
