A horror movie that has some fun with the genre. Bruce Campbell is great as always.

An interesting look into the horror zombie genre. Something so low-budget, bad acted and grotesque can still give me just a bit of the shivers. It also puts me into hysterics. I'm never sure what this movie is, horrifying or knee-slapping. You decide. It's a toss-up. Most of the time though (the 85 minutes, short I know) it moved pretty damn slow. Horror movies, they don't move slow. Maybe when the plot is advancing. But Evil Dead is simple. Stay Alive. That's all there was to it. About an hour of the movie was just people lyin' around. Still worth checkin' out for sure. FINAL SCORE :::: 71% ::::

Excellent! One of the best low-budget horror films ever made. It's a classic in my book.

A very influential movie from the early 80's. Evil Dead allowed people to see that young filmmakers with vision and imagination didn't need a big budget to make their presence known. Bruce Campbell wouldn't make his Ash character the legend he'd become till the sequel, but the first Evil Dead will be remembered as a horror movie that has helped a lot of young movie fans to go "Oh, I can do something like that too". And the movie being scary as hell doesn't hurt either!

I was expecting this to be better, but it actually wasn't as bad as Evil Dead II.

This is pretty much the king of low-budget horror. If you're a fan of this genre at all, this is a must-see. The low cost actually adds to the effect. Great fun for the whole family!

An amazing look at what a low budget, clever camera work, an underrated actor with a good story line can do. This is the best Horror movie of all time. To full appreciate though you have to watch it with the lights off, sound up, and alone.
