There is a good story somewhere in Jupiter Ascending, but the film feels so rushed and throws so much at you that all you get is action, action, an attempt at explaining things and yet more action. While Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum have certainly proven they have appeal - there is little chemistry going on in this movie. Eddie Redmayne vamps it up while Sean Bean surprisingly doesn't die! It wasn't as bad as I was expecting - but it's dumb sci-fi trying to look smart and that's it.

"Jupiter Ascending" is like a cross between the "Fifth Element" and "Dune". I don't understand why they made Jupiter a russian. Her russian family were boring dumkofts.

Saw this by accident (ticketing mix up) and was rather bewildered by the whole thing. I enjoyed Eddie Redmayne camping it up in futuristic fetish wear, but I recommend napping through everything else. Oh, and the Kafka-meets-Dickens-meets-Star Trek sequence about navigating space bureaucracy seemed to belong to different, better movie. Shame we didn't get to see more of that one.

I saw this movie in the IMAX 3-D. Some of the visual aspects are very stunning. But it seems like most of the action sequences were so fast that you were unable to follow who is shooting at whom or what was taking place beyond a small portion of the movie screen. As for the plot subject itself, the movie to me seem like it was aimed more at a 10-year-old boys perspective. The special effects are quite good although not quite up to Lucas studio standards. I'm not quite sure that I will be buying this movie when it comes out on DVD. But it was an enjoyable viewing just far less than what I thought it would be equal to. I can't say that I will be advising my science fiction friends to go and view it but that's just my taste.
