Lead by an incredible performance by a young Matt Dillon, "Drugstore Cowboy" portrays the life of a dope fiend so relentlessly realistic, it's sure to make you little squeamish.

Gus Van Sant hasn't had the best luck in choosing his films, but this 1989 film hits a lot of good notes. It doesn't glamorize drug use or the people involved. It has a raw edge to it and is one of Matt Dillon's best. I'm just sorry that I never got around to watching it sooner.

An intimate story of addiction and recovery that follows a hardly glamorous group of small-town, strung-out pill thieves. Van Sant is masterful in the way he pull small, emotional moments out of seemingly the most insignificant performances. Aside from her work in Boogie Nights, this is Heather Graham's best work.

I don't get how anyone other than a druggie could enjoy this movie. It was hopeless. I was very disappointing when I saw Gus Van Sant's name in the credits at the beginning of the movie, because the only movie of his I liked was Good Will Hunting. Matt Dillon annoys me. It kept me interested, this movie didn't bore me, but I can't go as far to say that I ENJOYED it...

Classic in my book. I am slightly biased because of the film set: Portland. However, this movie has it all: crime, drugs, recovery, lust, Matt Dillon, and sexy 70's outfits.
