Despite the many cliches and lacking the craftsmanship of something like "Rear Window," it manages to just reach its mark as a paranoia driven thriller.

The movie is about a teenager who is confined to his parents home due to house arrest develops a habit of spying on people when he notices a girl and a possible serial killer as he tries to convince those around him what he witnesses. This movie is like rear window but in modern day time, The acting is pretty damn good and the thriller is totally on the edge of your seat.

This film is a tad bit better than I remember it being all those years ago when I was but a 15-year-old dipping my toes into an expansive lake of suspense cinema, but it's still a crass remake of a sophisticated and urbane classic that thinks of a video of two teenagers kissing would hit trending on YouTube. David Morse's Tartarean renovations do help make the third act the best kind of crass, admittedly.

This is an ADD version of the classic Hitchcock film, Rear Window. It invokes some of the same feelings of tension and terror as the original film, but can't maintain the same, effective slow-burn pace. By actually speeding up the plot and trying to fit in more "boo' scares, it actually makes the film less tense.

Obvious but suspenseful thriller about a teenager (Shia LeBeouf) who is under house arrest after committing a crime and must wear a special ankle bracelet. His boredom eventually leads him to watch his neighbors and make observations about them. Other than a cute girl (Sarah Roemer) who just moved in next door, the teen notices a man (David Morse) who acts rather suspiciously, and might be a serial killer. But could he be a serial killer, or is the teen's imagination running away with him? Not a typical teenage thriller one might expect, with great performances, realistically suspenseful situations, and a fast pace. Lots of fun, too.

A slick, suspenseful thriller that eventually gives in to a climax full of cliches and inconsistencies; it borrows heavily from Rear Window, but at least it doesn't take its time establishing the villain and his dirty deeds. Final Grade: B-

Not a bad watch. The film does have some tense moments and a good climax. The characters are fairly engaging and I won't lie, there was one or two times where I had that don't-do-it! feeling that often accompanies movies such as this. I'm still not really convinced or sold on Shia LaBeouf's acting abilities. He seems to be the same character in every movie he's in - a wise-cracking smart ass who shows a talent for something.

This is pretty much Rear Window for the tech-obsessed, YouTube generation. It's far from perfect, but it moves along at a good pace and has a good mix of comedy and drama.
