"Mad Max: Fury Road" by Yojimbo

Yojimbo - wrote on 05/07/2017

Max is captured by a cult that worship an overlord who controls the local population through strict rationing of the water supply and to escape forms an alliance with his trusted lieutenant who mutinies to save his wives from captivity as "breeders". In George Miller's first addition to the Mad Max franchise in 30 years Tom Hardy takes over the role and acquits himself adequately, although the show is well and truly stolen by Charlize Theron as a kind of "Mad Maxine"; the resulting feminist overtones of the story are rather lacking in subtlety but it's a refreshingly different character dynamic to most action films. The plot is something of a rehash of some of the better ideas of the previous film - the rather bloated and tedious Beyond Thunderdome - which it thankfully surpasses in …

A crazy action film. One hell of a ride

One hell of a road chase film was this. The action sequences were jaw dropping, the photography was awesome, the dialogues in the film were crazy. The performances were bang on. Tom Hardy a rough voiced character plays Max. He struggles to remove his mask, tries to cut open the back chains and all struggles he dotes perfectly. He only utters his. character name once, that too comes in a bang. Furiosa OMG ! Charlize Theron can pull of such a bad ass character, with vigor and charm. That was crazy enough. Nicolas Hoult was also a spirited character. What about the Immortal so what we call in the film the baddie of the film. A skull jaw bone attached to a mask of a heavy bodied person. That was crazy. This is one of a film where I can keep telling the points, but hell ride when watched. I …

An action-packed post-apocalyptic blockbuster

"Witness me Blood Bag!! Witness!!! I live, I die, I live again!!"

There's one word that comes to my mind after watching "Mad Max Fury Road", and that's the word "madness". This is a perfect visualization of what the term madness means. I truly believe that the creators and writers of this hallucinatory trip were fed with hallucinogens. A spacious cocktail of exotic mushrooms, barbiturates and other drug-related products. Otherwise I wouldn't know how they could think up this crazy, wacky post-apocalyptic film. A film that feels as if it consists of a single action scene. You're not given a moment to catch your breath. It's undeniable that this movie adopted the concept of "Mad Max" from 1979, a legendary cult film with young Mel Gibson in a leading role. The same desolate and parched …

All the Thrills of an Action Movie

I want to say up front that I've never seen a single Mad Max movie before I watched this one. So my perspective is from someone who's new to the franchise. With that being said, Mad Max: Fury Road absolutely blew my freaking mind away on how incredible this movie is. The story is really about Charlize Theron's character as Furiosa, as she tries to get a group of people from a cult leader who's chasing them down and Mad Max (Tom Hardy) is stuck in the middle of the conflict. Director George Miller has find a brilliant way to keep me at the edge of my seat from the very beginning to the very end. The plot is very simplistic as the entire movie is just one huge chase scene lead by our villains. Usually that type of storytelling tend to make the movie stale overtime, but, for whatever …

What else to add about Mad Max: Fury Road?

Indyfreak - wrote on 10/30/2015

That it is the weirdest and strangest blockbuster in decades? That it has the most exhilarating action and stunt-work seen in an action film in decades? That it dares to be unusual, frightening, heart pumping, and exciting all at the same time? I suppose I already have.
George Miller who directed the original films with Mel Gibson is back with a fucking vengeance in this adrenaline rush of a motion picture. It is not a film in the traditional sense. Dialogue is sparse and often terse when spoken. Most of its storytelling is told through pure action and thrills which it delivers on a level not seen-as I repeat-in decades.
It is said that 80 to 90% of the action in Mad Max: Fury Road was done via practical effects and minimal CGI. Dear God it looks absolutely phenomenal! Bullets whiz …

What a lovely day, indeed

This film is fucking awesome. Director George Miller's "Mad Max" sequel earns the title "cinema heaven," as it delivers the goods, or better yet the GREATS, in regards to action, plot, suspense, cinematography, themes... pretty much everything. "Fury Road" is an amazing action story; a relentless, ballsy, absolutely breathtaking dive into the post-apocalyptic world of the mad. It's a film as rich in character and plot as it is in action, and that's truly saying something considering "Mad Max: Fury Road" is rich as shit in action - beautifully shot, consistently intense action. It tells a simple yet engaging story that serves the action, one that digs a little deeper than you may even expect. George Miller simply gets everything right, having this film stand alone as a riveting and …

The Epitome of Action Cinema!

The 'Mad Max' series is back and better than ever! 'Fury Road' is the epitome of non-stop adrenaline fueled action spectacles. The enormous chaotic set pieces on display are absolutely INSANE! This entire film is a furious beast that never lets up, just like it's fanatic characters driving with high-speed careless danger. That danger is felt up close through meticulously crafted and perfectly executed stunt work. Awe-inspiring is the proper term to describe every second of the action. Almost every bit feels real and raw. It's the most visceral excitement I've had at the cinema in recent years, outside of the amazing 'Raid' series. 'Fury Road' is the car battle equivalent to those films. Every shot, every car, every explosion, and every death-defying moment are all handled with …

High Octane Thrill Ride That Delivers

It has been a long and troubled road to bring Mad Max back to the big screen - but it looks like all the behind-the-scenes drama was worth it as Fury Road is the best action movie of the year and, I would argue, one of the best to come along in years. What makes it work is the lack of CGI and the reliance on a lot of amazing stunt work as well as the impressive turn from Charlize Theron who raises the bar for action heroines.

Despite being titled "Mad Max" Tom Hardy really plays a supporting role. The film opens with Max, who has survived the harsh future, where gas has become the hottest commodity, but not without sacrifice. He has lost his family, friends and has earned his nickname wondering if he is mad... or if it's everyone else. He is captured by a group of bandits run by …

Best action movie of the decade and the year

When I saw the reviews for this movie my first thought I got was "Every critic has lost their minds... even me".

The story is about a post-apocalyptic wasteland - the fight for survival has twisted the remnants of mankind, turning most into mad, vicious gangs. In this chaotic world two rebels may be able to restore order while seeking their own forms of redemption: Max, a man who just wants peace after losing his wife and child and Furiosa - who thinks finding her childhood home is the answer.

What a lovely day to be talking about Mad Max: Fury Road, because the trailers and the reviews for this movie have been off the walls mad, I mean 5/5 star's! wow just wow. The last Mad Max film came out in 1985 so it's a been a long time and this movie was in development for a long time as …
