"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of life." This reviewer is a sucker for life related quotes or films, this is definitely one of them. From the character development, spectacular cinematography, skilled cut scenes, acting and vibrant soundtrack, this picture was a fresh of breath air. The actor/director even utilizes gestures in certain scenes coupled with focus shots rarely scene in today's age. So many memorable lines: "Life is about courage and going into the unknown." from Cheryl, "If I like a moment, for me, personally, I don't like to have the distraction of the camera. I just want to stay in it." from Sean and "Good. Less is good!" from Todd. Subjects of transformation, …

This movie by ben stiller is. a nice idea of a guy who day dreams from the reality of his boring life then goes on a real adventure but nothing is realistic even when he is doing things for real its just totally stupid , he manages to leave work do things that would take weeks then return. The whole thing is just not very thought out and hard to take seriously. nice concept but it fails in so many ways.
even the guy who comes in to take over the business and people are going to lose their jobs. not one person seems to care. its just really unrealistic. yet it wants you to care for the character. it goes nowhere and leaves you thinking was that it.. surprised to see sean penn in a small role.
nice concept. nice try but its not a very good movie

Review: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Poor Ben Stiller. The actor/director of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty has his heart in the right place, but I'm pretty sure he left his mind in the gutter. The film's most beautiful and poetic moments are stomped on by its self-indulgence, poor acting and writing, and punishingly slow pace. The opening half-hour or so fails to offer much likability to the characters or any real involvement to Stiller and Wiig's on-screen chemistry. It feels too, too "PG-rated" at times. And once Walter takes off on his adventure, I never really found myself captivated or even slightly engaged as it leads to a finale which, essentially, isn't that compelling. As for the daydream sequences - they're nice to look at but they don't effectively help the story flow. They play out like nothing more than "Oh …

Awkward and unsubtle.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is an extremely shallow film. By that I mean its very predictable and clumsy writing, its PG-rated almost romance and the absolute waste of good actors and good potential.

I'll say it straight up: I am so sick of these self-important, shallow little movies that prolong the trailer and end. This one is no exception.

Let's get this out of the way: Ben Stiller is a good director. He directed this film with a lot of heart and flair, and you could see it meant a lot to him.
Sometimes his overly stylistic takes worked and seemed beautiful, other times I just didn't care about his over-saturated color framing, uneven focus and skateboard-driving character anymore.

I found myself scratching my head at how bad and unambitious these actors felt to me in …

Who has not been dreaming of just leaving? I mean, to just get up and go away? To escape the daily dilemma and experience the world? C'mon, we all did once, haven't we?
Well, that is like the plot of "The secret life of Walter Mitty". Whatever, the movie kind of represents daily things we all have experienced. Like: Daydreaming. Come on guys, I can't be the only one who sometimes has some of these. The pacing of the movie is wonderful! The whole movie feels like ther is so much passion in it. The directing captures every single emotion and pushes them through your body.
I am actually no fan of Ben Stiller, but what he has done here is just simply amazing. As director and as actor he really brings it to the top. This is actually his most real natural performance, his humor is great but …
