A FILM EXTRAORDINAIRE

With an outstanding posthumous awarded to the late Ledger, NOLAN is, without question, the director that rode the waves of acclaim starting from BATMAN BEGINS (2005). There is something in this film that gave us a new image of a villain- a devil incarnate- in the highest sense of the word. Also delicately exposes man's tacit propensity to swing into the dark side. But... that there is also in him, a greater desire to sacrifice so that good reigns over evil, others over self. Here is a film where cinematography, graphic images, hi-tech gadgetries, and breathtaking stunts are kept at bay by the strong message of the two figures of the JOKER and BATMAN.
Just PURE ENERGY !! Nothing but C7H5N3O6 (TNT) !! Explosive !! If I could give it a "5" I will .....

Great movie, changes too many backgrounds

This movie was visually amazing and Heath Ledger delivered a great performance.
Here are some of the things that didn't fly well with me:
1. They essentially reinvented the story of the Joker. They didn't expand it and slightly change it like the Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson did. This was essentially an entirely new back story. I don't like that.
2. On top of that, the Two-Face story was changed. That's two alterations in one movie.
3. The city itself was not that dark. The Joker was very dark but the city was too 'standard' for me.
4. I like Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne but I'm not sold on him as Batman. His new suit is better but I'm still not a huge fan.

Do I think this is the best superhero movie ever made and in comparison to what? Yes, I think it is the best superhero ever made (as of July 2008) and it’s about five times better than the great “Spider-man 2.” Do I think this is one of the best films of the 2000’s? Yes, I do because it not only works as a first-rate superhero film, it also works as a gritty suspense-crime thriller (some scenes are as heart-pounding as “The Departed”) influenced with noir films from the mid to late 1950’s (such as “The Killing”).

The Dark Knight shines brightly

At this point, I don't know what else I can write about "The Dark Knight" that hasn't already been said. I did love it just as much as everyone else, and maybe one little example would shed a different light on the reason why.
When is the last time you've seen a movie that had even one moment that made you say, "Wow"? They all seem so over the top these days, with fantastic stunts and special effects. They've become almost commonplace.
But there's a simple scene -- heck, tiny PART of a scene -- in "The Dark Knight" that made me say, "Wow". It's during Batman's confrontation with The Joker on the streets of Gotham City. He is on his "Batcycle", racing down the street. He's heading straight towards a building, but at the last minute starts to ride up the wall, then flips/turns …

Maybe the best I've ever seen

At two and half hours you’d think his film would feel long but you’d be wrong. “The Dark Knight” is so packed with visual wizardry. The film is a true sequel in as much as it virtually picks up at the conclusion of “Batman Begins” but, partly because of Heath Ledger’s stunningly brilliant performance, the story becomes even darker. It takes a master villain to make this kind of film a success. Ledger moved Batman from comic book to fully fleshed out thriller! Why so serious?

In early August, I visited the theater for the first time in weeks. When I left the building over two hours later, I was invigorated, inspired, and I had a new favorite movie.
The Dark Knight lends credence to the phrase that 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts'. There were aspects of the film that I disliked, and scenes that didn't hold my attention. But these were overshadowed, almost obliterated, by the good of the story.
The plot of this film felt, for the most part, smooth and natural, building towards the climax without artificially raising the stakes. Each action led into another, and each event created a ripple effect on those who experienced it. There was at least one character arc that moved too quickly, and which could have been handled with more grace. Yes, …

The Dark Knight not a 5 course meal for me!

I have been waiting to see this movie for weeks and finally I got my wish. I love the new direction the batman films have gone in. Batman begins, began this transition that should have happened years ago.
The old films where very comic book like, bright colored costumes and pyrotechnics. Very cheesy when you look back over the years but never the less they where all good movies in their own right accept Batman and Robin which everyone will agree was terrible.
Heath Ledger plays a fantastic Joker and the introduction of Aaron Eckhart as two face left me frothing at the mouth ready for the next installment. I felt so gratified because after seeing two face in Batman forever I now understood his character and what motivated his anger.

In 2005 Batman Begins shocked and surprised me. I wasn't even expecting it to be what it was. Anxiously awaiting The Dark Knight, I already had huge expectations. I was scared that they were a bit too high. What if this movie was over-hyped. Well yes, it was hyped highly. But MY GOD DID IT DESERVE IT. Come July 17, All my expectations for The Dark Knight had been Exceeded for MILES. Christopher Nolan had all the characters and writing done to perfection. He made the story fit into a 2 hour and 40 minute masterpiece. The Writing is amazing, as well as a great cast of actors who did excellent playing their roles. Every single one of them. Barely any CGI plagued this film to death, but with lots of real effects the authentic feel of a crime drama becomes present along with the story. Heath …

Wow I think every thing that can be said about this movie has been. I just want to add one thing. What is going to make this move contend for one of the highest grossing movies of all time is that it appeals to everyone. If you want an action movie, check. If you want plot and character driven movie, check. Heck if you want romance there is a little of that to. Another great part is that that 40 minutes of the movie were shot with an IMAX camera. We went and saw it in an IMAX theater and let me tell you if you can get to one go see it there it was amazing! I will leave the dissecting of the story line, acting and characters to the rest of the reviews but let me just say if you haven't seen this movie go see it today! (On IMAX if possible)

Best comic book movie ever

story 10/10 A perfectly crafted film, that had both a brilliant a deep story, that had many layers and depth to it, and great action scenes. This film is particularly good because it really does not waste one scene. Every scene has purpose, and is interesting. I was never bored during the whole film. I felt very similar to how I felt when I watched the departed. Anyone who was bored by this must merely not like a smart story.
sound 10/10- The musical score is perfectly implemented. Since it never gives away a scene, but instead is properly used so it only adds to the film.
